These are very reactive atoms or molecules that damage the cell structures of the skin and thus accelerate skin aging. These free radicals are produced, for example, by solar radiation, air pollution, stress or smoking.


But free radicals can be fought, and with antioxidants. These are molecules that are able to neutralize the free radicals - and fortunately are contained in many foods.

Our anti-aging diet tip: Get as many anti-aging antioxidants in your diet as possible. These include, above all, vitamins A, C and E. In addition, the mineral selenium helps to protect the body from free radicals. Beta-carotene from fruits and vegetables also has a strong antioxidant effect.


Do you know about lycopene and lutein, which are found in tomatoes, and quercetin, which is found in onions? These plant substances also break down free radicals.

And besides antioxidants, you should also take natural hormones from the age of 25, because the amount of the female sex hormone estrogen decreases with age. As a result, the skin increasingly loses elasticity and becomes drier. There are some foods with plant substances that have a hormone-like effect. These contain many phytoestrogensand lignans. Particularly rich in phytoestrogens and include soybeans (e.g. in tofu), legumes and cereal bran. Lignans are found primarily in flaxseed and in smaller amounts in other seeds such as sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds.
